Peugeot x fortyonehundred Collaboration

August 16, 2019

One of my favourite collaborations to date is project with Peugeot, creating this fortyonehundred car!

I was approached by Armstrong Motor Group Lower Hutt who asked if I’d like to work together. Armstrong Motor Group are the dealers of Peugeot in New Zealand. They teamed up with Peugeot NZ and together organised and funded this fortyonehundred collaboration.

I had creative freedom (the best!) to create a design which would then be wrapped in one of their new release cars - a Peugeot 3008. I was then given the car for 3 months, to explore the region while promoting the car and my artwork together in this collaboration.

The car itself was such a pleasure to experience and drive - my favourite feature was the self-parallel-parking - the wheels and steering wheel would spin and move, directed by the cameras and sensors, parking perfectly by itself. Amazing.

Here is a look into my design process. First I started designing with pencil-on-paper, until I had a rough idea of several compositions. Next I photoshopped different concepts together onto the car as mockups. This iteration part of my design process is crucial and so enjoyable. My design ethos is to: ENVISION, CREATE, OBSERVE, REFLECT, REFINE, DEFINE

After this process of iteration, I carefully designed and drew the artwork and then started tweaking it to fit to the car perfectly. The designs were printed in vinyl, so I had to make sure my design was able to be vectorised and fitted the form of the vehicle precisely.

Below is the final design…

…and the outcome!
