Mural Time Lapse

March 5, 2018

Here it is! I painted this Mandala Mural in the PotockiPaterson Art Gallery, in the 5 days leading up to my First Solo Exhibition. I painted each day between 2pm-2am, so this mural consisted of 60 hours and over 3 metres of complete creative freedom.

The Medium: Mural Pens

I painted this mural using my own range of Mural Pens. If you'd like to try them, you can buy them on my shop, there are only a few left! View them here on my online shop. I created these pens as I couldn't find the perfect medium, so I developed my own. They are made of a special blend of black acrylic paint that makes them the perfect flow & consistency for painting on walls.

The artwork: Concept

For this mural, I was exploring ideas surrounding the Anthropocene - the new geological epoch we have entered into, characterised by human influence and destruction. I am fascinated in the ways we can use artwork to create connection, reminding people of our immense interconnectivity with our earth, with each other, with our whole universe. This contrasts with typical imagery of the Anthropocene - of melting icebergs, overflowing landfills, poverty and war. Not that these images aren't important and powerful - but we are increasingly desensitised to this media and can feel a sense of disconnection or helplessness.

Through my artwork, especially pieces like this mural, I hope to inspire a sense of connection between people and the bigger picture of which we are apart of, in an immersive, positive, constructive manner.

This artwork was part of my First Solo Exhibition, which was my final project for my Master of Fine Arts degree. My artwork is inspired by fractals in nature. For this mural I started with a contemporary exploration of the mandala in the middle, exploding out into free-flowing fractal organised chaos.

Getting into Youtube! Let's connect

This is my first proper YouTube video! I am excited to start getting into creating content on YouTube this year. The music for this video is by the incredible Dyalla Swain. Dyalla is a musical genius - we went to university together which is how I found her music. Since hearing her work I discovered that her tunes have been used by many amazing Youtubers, such as Casey Neistat.
