Art Commission in NYC

Recently I was flown from Canada to New York by Domestika to film an online course. It was an incredible experience! Thank you to Domestika and their whole team. Also a huge thank you to Apple for sponsoring this vlog series - I filmed my journey with the newest iPhone Pro and part of my process in my art and in the online course is using the newest iPad Pro.

I have released a 5-part vlog series showing you the filming of the art commission, as well as scenes around New York City! (including...a lot of dogs). The 6th is a full-length video of all vlogs combined.


Vlog 1:

Arriving in NYC, Empire State, Bagel hunting, 5th ave Cathedral, Times Square, the MET museum, showing you around the film studio for the commission!


Vlog 2:

Commission filming in the studio + Brooklyn Bridge, vegan dim sum, grand central station, trying to figure out the subway, visiting the MOMA, went on a date!


Vlog 3:

Headed out to film in Madison Square Park, drawing and looking at dogs with the film crew following! + Walked the Highline, NYC harbour cruise to see the statue of liberty, citi bike cruising, The Edge observatory, the Whitney art gallery, Bryant Park sunbathing, Getting lost on the subway!


Vlog 4:

Commission filming + Washington Square Park, Soho, Central Park, vegan pastries at ABCv, Guggenheim art gallery


Vlog 5:

Last day of filming for the commission, with a set change and outfit change! + Drawing tour around New York, 'Sex and the City' apartment, 'Friends' apartment, Top of the Rock observatory, Times Square at Night, getting my 2nd shot, flying to New Zealand!

Here’s what I was filming!

Over the past year, I've been working with the incredible education platform Domestika to create an online course. I designed the course in Canada and filmed it in New York. In the course, I teach how to draw a mandala - all the way from the technical aspects, to the history, meanings, materials needed, tips & tricks - everything.
